Support Our Dogs
There are various ways you can support our dogs
Foster

Fostering is at the heart of what we do — without our foster homes, we simply couldn’t exist. Offering a dog a safe place to land, even temporarily, can be life-changing for them and deeply rewarding for you.
We welcome fosters across mainland Britain, with support and guidance provided every step of the way. Whether you’re available short-term or long-term, we’ll match you with a dog that suits your lifestyle and experience.
We have several types of fostering:
Emergency Fostering – Last-minute or crisis placements, often with limited notice.
Short-Term Fostering – Providing care while we assess a dog or prepare them for adoption.
Long-Term Fostering – Supporting dogs who need extra time to find the right home.
Foster to Adopt – Trial placements for those considering adoption, offering dogs consistency while decisions are made.
Medical Foster – Caring for dogs recovering from illness, injury, or surgery (all veterinary care covered).
Forever Foster – A permanent placement for dogs with ongoing needs, where the rescue continues to support costs and care planning.
All foster carers are expected to provide basic daily care, love, and structure, and to communicate openly with our team about the dog’s progress and needs. We cover veterinary costs and offer support with supplies where needed, but otherwise Fosters are expected to meet day to day living costs.
Fostering saves lives — and we’ll be with you every step of the way.
Fundraise & Donate

Every single donation — whether it’s time, money, or supplies — helps us continue our work with dogs who need urgent care, safe foster spaces, and a fresh start. There are so many ways you can get involved and support La’al Marras:
You can fundraise personally through sponsored events or creative challenges, or connect with us about corporate partnerships, sponsorships, or ethical endorsements. Businesses, groups, and individuals are all welcome — we love working with those who share our values.
We gratefully accept ongoing support through Direct Debits, PayPal, or small tip-style donations via Ko-fi. One-off campaigns are also regularly shared through our GoFundMe, where you can contribute directly to specific dogs or emergency needs.
If you’d like to sponsor a kennel space, we have options for ongoing support that help cover food, vet care, and enrichment for dogs waiting to be placed.
We also run an Amazon Wishlist and accept donations of physical items through drop-off points and pre-arranged collection points. You can even support us by selling pre-loved items on Vinted, with proceeds directed toward our rescue fund.
If you’re thinking long-term, we also welcome legacy giving — leaving a gift to La’al Marras in your will can change the future for dogs who haven’t even arrived yet.
Whatever you’re able to offer, we’re deeply grateful. Every bit of help creates more space, more care, and more second chances.
Transport

Our transporters play a vital role in getting dogs to safety. While many of our drivers operate independently or through trusted volunteer networks, La’al Marras provides guidance and support to ensure every journey is safe, legal, and low-stress for the dog.
All transporters are expected to follow basic welfare standards, including secure containment, access to water, and use of slip leads. Journeys must comply with DEFRA animal transport guidelines, and drivers should be familiar with safe handling and emergency protocols.
As most volunteers operate as third parties, La’al Marras holds no liability for incidents during independent transport unless arranged directly by our team. However, we do our best to work only with trusted individuals who meet our safety and ethics standards.
"My wife fosters and she told me I was a volunteer transporter last year. She normally just tells me where i'm going and what i'm doing there, so nothing new really! I do love an excuse to spend my days with all the extra puppy cuddles!"
"I do whatever I can for rescue, I foster, train, vet trip, promote, do emergency runs, you name it, if i've got the time, I'm on it. My own girl is a rescue, so I have to get the others to their Mamas too."
"I am retired so always looking for something to do to keep me busy, my daugher introduced me to rescue so I drive, and she takes care of the dogs on the trip."
"I have co-piloted a couple of runs with my partner and it's a lovely day out together making such a huge difference for a dog. Perfect Date!"
"I enjoy travelling on my days off anyway so I go for runs planned in advance and it gives me an excuse to go up and spend the day before exploring a new place."
Foster a La'al Marra
We are always looking for more kind, understanding homes that can give dogs the vital lifeline they need to move on to their forever family.
We cover transport and medical costs for a dog placed in foster care, but we do expect day to day living costs to be met by the foster carer. We do not have restrictions on working with other rescues, and we approve fosters from a diverse range of backgrounds.
We have dogs that are Foster, Adopt or Foster to Adopt.
Laura
Laura’s fostering journey came to an unexpected but heartwarming end when Maggie stole the entire family’s hearts — and made it clear she had no intention of giving them back or sharing them with a doggy sibling.
While that technically means Laura’s retired from fostering, we’re more than happy Maggie found her forever home right where she was.

Peter
Peter plays a vital role in our team, often stepping in at short notice to provide emergency foster care when a dog needs somewhere safe to land for 24–48 hours.
He’s also been a calm, steady presence for particularly anxious dogs during their initial decompression — offering the quiet, one-to-one care they need to start feeling safe again.

Daniel
Daniel has fostered an impressively wide range of dogs for La’al Marras — from tiny, wobbly whippet-types to big blocky-headed bulldogs.
No matter the size or shape, he’s helped them settle, decompress, and move forward toward their forever homes.

Food & Other Items
We are very happy to accept any donations of sealed pet food or good quality, usable pet products.
Please get in touch with us using the email button below and we will let you know your nearest drop off point, or when a transporter will next be in your area.

Sponsor A Kennel Space
We step up and step in for as many la'al marras facing emergency situations and crisis as possible.
Keeping a dedicated kennel space with a boarding service allows us to have an available space to fast track an emergency La'al Marra to safety while we find a more long-term solution for them.
Each Kennel Space costs £15 per night.
We have kennel spaces in Cumbria, Buckinghamshire, and the West Midlands.

Amazon Wishlist
Our wishlist is updated regularly to reflect current needs. We have the choice of purchasing from an individual La'al Marra's list or basics for the rescue as a whole.
The wishlist is set up so gifters can also choose their own items to send to the dogs.
Dog Rescue Volunteers Needed
The Volunteer Transport Network Needs You!
We’re incredibly fortunate to work alongside a dedicated network of volunteer drivers who give their time, energy, and vehicles to help rescue dogs across mainland Britain — asking for nothing more than fuel costs in return.
This volunteer transport network is a lifeline not only for us, but for countless other rescues, groups, and individuals working to save dogs whose lives truly hang in the balance. Their willingness to step up makes all the difference.
Our volunteers cover everything from home-to-home transfers to pound collections, vet runs, and kennel pickups. Some even go the extra mile — quite literally — by taking dogs out on enrichment outings to give them a break from kennels or .
All transporters are expected to carry a slip lead, water, and treats for the dog, as well as a secure crate appropriate to the dog’s size and needs. Crates are sometimes provided by the rescue, though many transporters have their own.
Adult co-pilots are always welcome on runs, but we kindly ask that children and personal pets remain at home. Dogs under stress can behave unpredictably, and we prioritise safety for everyone involved — especially those who cannot consent or respond appropriately in emergencies.
